Architect’24 is now ready to unveil. The largest building technology exposition in ASEAN, organized for 36 consecutive years by ASA and its partner TTF International, comes with a concept of “Collective Language” to address the world’s recognition of borderless architecture and design like a variety of language. It has demonstrated through a variety of exhibitions, activities, innovations and services from over 100,000 items to display from over 1,000 local and international exhibitors. It is expected to welcome over 325,000 visitors at the scale of 75,000 square metre area, contributing an economic value of over 22 billion baht throughout the six-day event, starting from April 30TH to May 5TH  at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. 

Mr.Chana Sumpalung, President of The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA), said the iconic architectural event has been consecutively organized for 36 years, it represents architectural showcases, activities to enhance architect’s capacity, and exhibitions of innovative technology for construction materials. Importantly, it serves significant learning hub for ordinary people, students and entrepreneurs, providing them with the opportunity to experience the latest architectural trends, meet with outstanding architects and explore newly-developed construction commodities every year.

It takes place in April 30TH to May 5TH, 2024 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani under the theme of “Collective Language”, aimed at creating an awareness of borderless architectural wisdom that is similar to a diversity of language. To fulfill a long journey of 90-year establishment journey, ASA aims to foster a positive movement towards a better future by sharing its efforts through the exhibition. This includes exhibitions, architectural services, newly-launched construction items, exclusive innovations and technologies, along with key activities. Spanning a scale of 75,000 square metres area, it is regarded as the largest architecture fair in the ASEAN region.

“Established in 1934, ASA has done its job for up skilling the architecture career by sharing knowledge, promoting career paths, and providing services to civil society for 90 years. This presents a great opportunity to honor senior architects by publicizing their pieces of work to the young generation. The biography exhibition for honorable senior architects will be made, together with photo workshop for modern architecture, short video clips and more. Mr.Chutayaves Sinthuphan, co-chairman of Architect’24, has raised a highlight of ASA Professional Seminar 2024, which serves as a forum for professional discussions aimed at supporting the career paths of architects and designers in the construction business. It would provide new knowledge elements, experience transfer and expanding know-how knowledge of designing industry and construction in both domestic and oversea market. It has divided into seven zones, covering community architecture, architect for conservation, future construction trend, insights from creators, a competition for research topic, perspective of young architects and designers, together with a case study for applying a permit to new-styled construction in Singapore.

He expressed hope that each section would be able to fulfill knowledge and further develop designing and construction skill in the future. The seminar will take place at Jupiter Hall 11-13, Challenger building, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in May 2-3.

Ms.Kulthida Songkittipakdee, co-chairman of the organizing committee, said that ASA INTERNATIONAL FORUM 2024 will be gathered by world-class architectural speakers for decoding a topic of “Critical Regionalism in Architecture”, The speakers include Antoine Chaaya– a crucial partner of Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), Ma Yansong– well-known Chinese architect from MAD Architects, Marina Tabassum, an architect from Bangladesh who won Aga Khan award, together with duo-founder of SHAU from Indonesia Daliana Suryawinata and Florian Heinzelmann, Erik L’Heureux from the National University of Singapore, and Tonkao Panin of Silpakorn University and founder of Research Studio Panin. ASA COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE serves as a venue for storytelling, featuring designers and architects who are eager to share their experiences and skills within the architectural context in a cozy atmosphere. It is extended event of Human Library last year. Both local and international speakers would share their own stories, transcending race and language barriers to create new recognition within the architecture world. The topics include “Feng Shui & Design” by Supachai Wiwatanaprasert, “The Dark Side of the Collective” by Kevin Mark Low, “Out of classroom: education, practice, and thinking in architecture” by Jenchieh Hung and professor Sarawut Sapsuk. Additional speakers are scheduled to participate daily at the activity zone of ASA COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE.

Prompt Udomdej; Ph.D., Co-chairman of the organizing committee,  explained that participants could enjoy special activities to earn daily rewards, such as ASA Collects, which is AR game at the main exhibition to collect badge at various points. The rules are as follows: 1) a player scan a QR code to access “ASA Collects”. 2) Press Start to register by accessing Facebook to verify identity. 3) Get back to Home and access the Map to see where to collect badge, then scan to play AR game at the identified point, and Collect for see a result of total score received. Each exhibition provides badge collections by scanning to play the game.

Collected badges can be exchanged for rewards at ASA Shop, which the reward is various based on a level of badge collected. For example, 9 badges earn a book of Collective Language-Asian Contemporary Architecture (30 books/day), 8 badges for T-shirt (10 shirts/day) and 7 badges for ice-cream (50 bars/day). The game is open to all participants, and badge collection is valid for one day.” 

Asst.Prof Rattapong Angkasith; Ph.D., Co-chairman of the organizing committee, has invited participants to attend the main exhibition titled “Collective Language”, explaining about the identity of architecture language in Asia through the works of 12 architects who share a common dimension of language, each with a unique purpose of communication. Other exhibitions include the ASA ALL MEMBER: Collective Practices, which offers two parts and consists of centre exhibition to show the 90th anniversary of ASA’s legend and its journey and member’s exhibitions and ASA Experimental Design Competition.

Regarding the member’s exhibitions, it presented outstanding showcases from TIDA, TALA Collective experience, TUDA and more. Other exhibitions are also on the show such as exhibition for awarded architecture building conservation 2024, awarded outstanding architecture, VERNADOC exhibition and educational institution exhibition. Other recreational zone has prepared such as ASA Club- an area for meetings and discussions, ASA Night 2024, and architect volunteers offering consultations forarchitecture, additionally, there is the ACT Shop for souvenirs and books, the ASA Book Shop, and more

Mr. Supaman Munka, General Manager of TTF International Co., Ltd, the organizer of Architect’24, said that the event has successfully positioned the country as the regional hub for construction materials and has generated active movement among construction and real estate business due to an increasing number of exhibitors compared with last year.

According to him, there are now over 1,000 exhibitors, marking a 9.4% increase, which is divided into 30% from oversea clients. Among them, 97% are from Asia such as China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam while 3% are from Europe, including Germany, Italy, United of Kingdom and more. Moreover, this is the first time to have the selected innovative products by international exhibitors which have been curated by the expert team  to increase consumer confidence.

The event has expected to attract over 325,000 visitors, representing a 6.25% increase from last year. Furthermore, the number of registered participants from oversea has also increased by 3.5 times, with the majority coming from Asia and Oceania with 95.22%, followed by 2.87% from Europe, 1.34% from North America, 0.38% from Latin America and 0.19% from Africa respectively. The expected business value is estimated to exceed 22 billion baht.

One of the event’s highlights, Thematic Pavilion, is a special zone designed to foster creative ideas and facilitate idea exchange among emerging designers and building material suppliers. It includes a contest stage for Best Innovation Award 2024. Additionally, new innovations of construction materials will be released to the public for the first time at the event, emphasizing its iconic event for collecting innovative construction materials from all corners around the world.

The event will take place from April 30th to May 5th, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
