Elevating the Thai Pharmaceutical Industry as A Medical Hub
Informa Markets kicks off CPHI South East Asia 2024, a trade exhibition and conference platform for people in the pharmaceutical industry in Southeast Asia, under the concept “International Healthcare Week” combining two events – Medlab Asia and Asia Health to showcase leading products, technology and innovations in Thailand’s medical, medical labs and pharmaceutical industries. The event gathers over 400 brands worldwide across 10 business sectors and features over 60 conference topics which will provide participants with greater business opportunities. Informa Markets expects the event to boost Thailand’s potential as the medical hub and generate more revenue to Thailand. To be held from 10-12 July 2024, hall 1-3 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
Mr. Manu Leopairote, Chairman of Informa Markets Thailand disclosed that the event is held under the concept “International Healthcare Week” which combines three major events – CPHI South East Asia 2024, Medlab Asia 2024 and Asia Health 2024. The three events concentrate on people in the pharmaceutical products and services, medical lab, medical equipment and healthcare solutions industries as well as pharmaceutical value chain.
Ms. Rungphech Chitanuwat, Regional Portfolio Director – ASEAN, Informa Markets and Country General Manager – Philippines, confirms the company’s readiness for CPHI South East Asia 2024, Asia’s leading pharmaceutical technology and innovation exhibition. The event is aimed at creating new opportunities and improving Thai pharmaceutical industry to create pharmaceutical security that will drive Thailand towards being ASEAN’s largest and fastest growing medical hub.

Highlights of the event is the large number of over 400 brands from 50 countries, such as the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia. The event will also showcase healthcare and medical innovations from 10 related industry profiles, including reactants, medicine, herbal medicine, machinery, packaging, testing equipment, OEM, logistics, warehouses, chemicals and natural extracts.
In addition, CPHI South East Asia 2024 will encourage networking and workshops that promote the sustainability in the industry. The event will feature 60 seminars on industry trends and interesting topics and Pharma Quest; pharmaceutical knowledge competition.

The main objective of CPHI South East Asia 2024 is to promote pharmaceutical security, increase accessibility to high quality pharmaceutical products and elevate Thai pharmaceutical industry as the healthcare and medical hub of ASEAN. At present, 70% of medical products in Thailand is imported while the remaining 30% is locally produced. This provides growth opportunity for Thai manufacturers as OEM and production for export.
Although medical and pharmaceutical producers are facing new challenges in today’s changing business landscape, they also enjoy great opportunities presented by the changing population structure and the development of aged society. At present, aging population grows by 7.5% per year and is constantly expanding. Accordingly, the number of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) patients is also increasing. These are the two factors driving higher demand for high quality medicines. IQVIA’s market research shows that Thai pharmaceutical market value is as big as 180 billion baht with an average annual growth rate of 11%.
