‘CPHI South East Asia 2023 – At the Heart of Pharma’:
The showcase of Thai pharmaceutical industry’s success
Simple but elegant. This phrase, perhaps, explained best the result of the “CPHI South East Asia 2023”, the region’s leading exhibition of pharmaceutical technology, innovations, and packaging which was held recently under “CPHI at the Heart of Pharma” theme. The event was very successful in terms of the number of participating business owners, pharmaceutical companies, and people in the pharmaceutical supply chain. Over 390 exhibitors filled the entire event space of 15,000 square meters in Hall 1-3, G Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event also welcomed 8,258 visitors, including Thai and foreign businesspeople, investors, and students who are interested in the pharmaceutical industry. Such impressive success did create a real buzz for Thailand’s pharmaceutical industry.
The event recorded many achievements thanks to the exceptional dedication of Ms. Rungphech Chitanuwat, Regional Portfolio Director – ASEAN, Informa Markets Thailand. Among other successes is the fact that Thailand was selected as the host country. The scale of the event, which is the third consecutive year, was doubled from the previous ones.
In addition, the exhibition saw impressive participation from leading organizations in both public and private sectors, including Thai Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration, Thai Industrial Pharmacist Association, the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines, Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines of Malaysia, and pharmaceutical manufacturers association in the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, South Korea and China.
In a nutshell, CPHI South East Asia 2023 successfully brought Thailand’s pharmaceutical industry one step closer to becoming the world’s leading pharmaceutical producer, while opening up new opportunities in the future. Business discussions held during the event marked the beginning of a new era where huge money seeds will continue to flow into the country and, thus, boosting Thai economy.
CPHI South East Asia 2023 impressed all visitors from the very beginning with the simple yet elegant opening ceremony with spectacular performances that clearly highlight Thainess followed by the powerful opening speech by Thailand’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
The exhibition itself was outstanding with a large variety of showcases from participants, especially Olic (Thailand), and Halal Development Corporation Berhad which is a Malaysian pharmaceutical leader who is among the first to introduce halal-branded pharmaceutical products.
Every single square inch in the exhibition was full of interesting product showcases, which not only provide visitors with updated information but also inspiration. Industry leaders and experts gathered to update trends, give sound advice, introduce innovations, and showcase results of interesting research about Thai herbs that will add value to Thai economy. On stage, more than 40 thought-provoking talks, discussions, and presentations attracted visitors’ attention.
What’s new in today’s exhibition was the “Pharma Quest,” the pharmaceutical skill contest. The competition received an overwhelming response from students from leading educational institutes across Thailand, such as Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University, Naresuan University, Chiang Mai University, Ubon Ratchathani University, Phayap University, Silpakorn University, and Prince of Songkhla University. There were 43 teams of a total of 123 students joining this competition.
“Pharma Market Hub” was also held to promote pharmaceutical knowledge that supports four areas of sustainability – sustainable learning, sustainable economic growth, sustainable production and consumption, and sustainable cooperation at the international level. A workshop on hot herbal compress making is among many interesting activities that participants enjoyed and brought back home the herbal hot compress.
The Networking Night event was also appreciated by visitors. It not only connected people and organizations of the same interest, but also added more fun, relaxation and enjoyment to the exhibition.
CPHI South East Asia 2023 is no doubt a real showcase of Thailand’s potential in the pharmaceutical industry and readiness to become the global medical and wellness hub.
